Nice Catfish Out of the Brazos River

While everyone else was traipsing around Houston doing the after Christmas shopping, I was able to get out to Brazos Bend State Park and get in some fishing in the Brazos River. There was a great deal of mud and rain to contend with, but I caught this nice catfish soon after I got set up on the bank. This was the only one I caught all day, but it was fun anyway.

Instead of doing my Christmas shopping as I should, I went fishing out at Calaveras again. This trip was more fruitful than the last few trips. I caught eight nice catfish, they were biting steady all morning. Fished using just worms and blood bait.

SALTWATER FISHING IN DECEMBER NEAR CORPUS CHRISTI TX IS TOUGH

Steve Baxter and I went to Ingleside Navy Yard this weekend and had a good time fishing and checking out the restraunts in Ingleside, but didn't catch any fish worth keeping. We did manage to find a good place to buy fresh shrimp, so it wasn't a totally wasted trip.

There were many large ships coming through the area, Ingleside is a deep water port.

We had plenty of sun and good weather, but not much in the way of fishing action.

Steve catches the only fish of the weekend, a monster catfish weighing in at about a pound.

The 8# redfish Darrell and I collaborated on. This fish got on my line, and as I brought it toward the bank it ran into Darrell's line. It then snapped my line, and I thought it was a goner. Fortunately it tangled in Darrell's line enough to where he was able to bring it in. It weighed in at 8#'s.

We had a really nice time fishing, up to the time we got to the back yard and started cleaning them.

Night Fishing, Calaveras

I went night fishing last night at Calaveras with Augie. We did OK, I caught two nice redfish and Augie caught a redfish and two catfish. All in all it was a good night. We fished from the bank and used shrimp and worms. We hope to go again soon--here are the pictures.
